Bay Area Zindabad!

Yes, Bay area South Asian community rocks. The $3200 needed were collected in three days. The money was wired from Ekta account to St Paul De Vincent society and has been wired to the two clearing agents in Pakistan, ICS and UPM. I have faxed and sent orignal bill of Landing, twice. The shipment lands in Karachi on 20th Feburay.

I will keep you all posted on progress. I am hoping to do a little bit of publicity for St Paul De Vincent and Ekta/Fosa in Pakistan. Any volunteers to coorinate this in Karachi or Islamabad. Send me an email.

Final Appeal for Shipment donations

I am in a predicament. the shipment to Karachi gets there on 14th, Feb. The final destination is SUNGI warehouse in Abottabad. However, we need an extra $3200 dollars to deliver it to Abottabad. First leg is KHI - ISLAMABAD DRY port and the other is from ISLAMABAD to ABOTTBAD including custom clearance charges. There is no duty on these items.

I am asking for anyone in the community in to step up to donate to cover these charges. You can wire the money directly to the shipping agencies. It is absolutely a necessity that this gets taken care off immediately. We have had 10 feet of snow in the valley already. Let’s not forget there are three million refugees in the affected areas without permanent shelter.

Charges from KHI – ISLAMABAD ($2006 with $672 refundable)

The collection is going on strong. We did inventory and shrink wrapping of items, more are coming in everyday. I have transfered $2100 to St Paul De Vincent society of Oregon. Inshallah we should have the shipment out of oakland by the second week of January on its way to Karachi. Thanks to you all.

The first snows have arrived in Northern Area, everything has grounded to a halt.
